Composer Imant Raminsh\'s lyrical melodies and lush harmonic textures combined with the skilled, expressive singing of the GECC create a powerful musical partnership in this unique choral opera based on Hans Christian Andersen\'s tale of the same name.
Eclectic repetoire performed on the Chorus\' 1998 tour of Italy, includes opera by Puccini and Donizetti, Latin American selections by Hatfield, Brunner and Favero, excerpts from Bernstein\'s MASS, and works by Berlin, Copland, Hoiby, Kesselman, Loesser, Page and Walker.
