Ensembles

Different ensembles within Anima offer escalating levels of challenge, appropriate to the age, maturity and experience of the singers in each ensemble. Each ensemble is designed to be a rewarding experience in its own right, and offers enriching rehearsal and performance opportunities.

Touring Chorus

Advanced Ensemble

The Touring Level ensemble is available for qualified students 6th grade and up. This advanced ensemble demonstrates exceptional musical skills and superior standards of professionalism. Choristers will concentrate on learning more advanced sight singing skills and retain complex melodic, harmonic and rhythmic material. They exhibit superior vocal abilities, musicality, and emotional maturity.

The Touring Chorus engages in high profile city, national and international performances with groups such as the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Grant Park Orchestra, Music of the Baroque, and Chicago Sinfonietta, as well as national music conferences and international tours.

Yearly tuition: $190 monthly ($1434 total)

Concert Chorus

Intermediate Ensemble 

At the intermediate level of Anima, Concert Choristers continue their development of vocal and music literacy skills through the rehearsal and performance of more challenging two and three-part repertoire of many styles and cultures. Students gain greater performance experience through collaborations with professional music organizations, composers, travel within the U.S., increased community performances and occasional recording opportunities.

Highlights include collaborations with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Joffrey Ballet, and others.

Rehearsals are on Tuesday & Thursday, 6:15-8:00 p.m.
Yearly tuition: $1128 annually ($150 monthly)

Treble Chorus

Beginning Ensemble

Treble Chorus is the first of our main performing ensembles. Treble Choristers explore the joy of musical expression and the self-esteem that grows from skillful choral singing. Choristers work on establishing healthy singing habits, singing with good intonation, developing listening habits and learning to read basic musical notation using printed scores. Members learn a variety of age appropriate pieces, including unison, two-part and occasional three-part singing.

2017-2018 Season
Rehearsals are on Tuesday, 4:30-6:00pm
Yearly Treble Chorus tuition: $80 monthly ($561 total)
Yearly Treble Plus tuition: $120 monthly ($912 total)

Rehearsals run September 5 through late May

Treble Plus is for conductor recommended Treble Chorus singers, offering additional challenge and bridging the transition to Concert Chorus. This program supplements the Treble Chorus Tuesday rehearsal with an additional hour on Thursdays from 5:30 – 6:30 pm, including a half hour of additional music literacy training and a half hour of shared warm-up and rehearsal time with Concert Chorus.

Annual tuition is  $912 ($120/month)

KidSingers

Introductory Ensemble

Anima KidSingers is an introductory class for children entering Kindergarten and First grade. This entry-level program helps children develop the joy of singing, find their singing voices, move to music, learn age appropriate game, folk, and partner songs, learn beginning aural skills, and develop self- confidence.

Introductory Ensemble

For students in grades K-1
Rehearses once a week for 45 minutes

2017-2018 Season

Classes take place Tuesday, 5:00-5:45pm
Semester tuition is $200
Financial aid available
Classes meet weekly September 12 through December (Fall Semester) and January through April (Spring Semester) with a recital featuring KidSingers and the Anima Treble Chorus at the conclusion of each semester.

Summer Camps

Summer Music Academy

Summer Music Academy is for youth entering grades 5 – 9 and provides exceptional musicianship and performance training in an intensive week-long session during the summer. Activities include sessions on vocal technique, movement, score reading skills, dramatic improvisation, and staged scenes from age-appropriate dramatic works. Here are some added benefits:

Vocal Techniques: Learn healthy ways to use both your speaking and singing voice
Musicianship Skills: Learn how to read musical notes and rhythms
Acting Techniques: Gain awareness of being on stage, explore character development, and engage in improv exercises
